The wedding day’s finally here and, perhaps somewhat against convention, it’s the groom who’s turning out to be a bit of a control freak in his bid to make sure everything runs smoothly. Having spent most of the morning barking orders at his friends, responsible for assembling the marquee, he returns to Rachel’s place to get ready. And if worrying about the whereabouts of a tardy Ric wasn’t enough, he’s soon built himself up into a panic over Cassie – which is enough to see the restless groomzilla wheeling round, bumping into Dan and finding himself covered in a glassful of celebratory whisky. Brad soon decides that his mates are hardly to be trusted with such a complex task as retrieving a replacement shirt and so heads home, only to walk in on Sally in her beautiful dress - just to add to the list of pre-wedding bad omens. “He’s jinxing the whole thing, that’s what he’s doing,” Colleen helpfully points out. Unfortunately, there may be some truth in her typically inappropriate words…Missing in actionCassie has, meanwhile, been preoccupied with sulking about Henk and, in spite of everything, working out the best way she can return to his hospital beside without attracting attention – no mean feat considering that most wedding parties would be hard pushed not to notice the absence of one of their bridesmaids. Now, we know what you’re thinking: someone should really tell her to get some perspective. And someone does. “The thing is that today isn’t about you,” Matilda points out, trying the blunt approach as a final resort in her quest to keep Cassie from leaving. It probably won’t come as too much of a surprise, though, that her advice falls on deaf ears; Cassie, fresh from an argument with a particularly snippy Colleen, is soon confronting Henk about his past, desperate to hear something which may change the current state of their “relationship” (and we use the term loosely). Henk having shown such remorse for what happened, Cassie’s mind is made up: she still wants to be with him. “Are you listening to what I’m telling you? I’m no good for you,” Henk responds, astounded at her unwillingness to listen to reason. But before she can spend another moment trying to convince him otherwise, Brad bursts into the room – Mattie by now having tipped Sally off about her whereabouts – and sends her away, leaving Henk in no doubt that his isn’t a welcome presence in their lives.

“I will not be responsible for my actions once my wedding is over,” he threatens, before making his exit and leaving Henk desperately trying to arrange a transfer to another hospital.

Unwritten

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Sally struggles to find a moment in the groomzilla’s hectic schedule in which she can broach the subject of her ever-multiplying doubts, and soon finds herself being swept away to get ready by her very excited bridal party – including an ever-doting Pippa and a snap-happy Colleen, who’s ready to document every moment in candid detail (a choice we’re sure she may later come to regret).

But Sally can’t help but shake off the memories of her past; from Don’s reflections on Flynn to the young Pippa’s pointing at his picture on the fireplace, her focus isn’t exactly on the task at hand, and not even a pep talk from Leah seems to have the desired effect. As the last of the bride’s guests are whisked away to the venue, Sally gets her long-awaited chance to reflect. On top of everything, she’s managed to forget the writing of her vows, and it’s enough to shake her into revealing the truth. “I can’t do this, Pippa.

I cannot marry Brad,” she admits; her hopelessly devoted other half, meanwhile waiting at the altar and remarking on how everything seems to have fallen into place.
