“Just tell me: is it true? You knew about this all along?” Drew asks Jazz, whose attempts to deflect his questions by returning to her sob stories sees the room immediately emptied. And so it is that no sooner were the Bay’s residents contemplating Drew’s act of good will in sharing his windfall than they find themselves gossiping over this latest development and Jazz’s startling take on good parenting – while a gob-smacked Tony suffers a severe knock to his confidence when he realises that Jazz’s interest in him may have been nothing more than part of her plan to combat her lack of popularity by getting herself an “in”. It comes as little surprise, then, that not an eyebrow is raised when Drew makes the decision to claim the entire inheritance for himself, leaving Jazz out in the cold – as time will tell, perhaps only too literally. You see, while Drew opts to spend some time alone to reflect, Belle becomes the recipient of a text from Jazz, desperate to get someone onside and to help her repair her relationship with her son. But while a furious Belle might agree to a meeting, it’s only to deliver some news of her own. “You’re being evicted and you have two weeks’ notice,” she tells Jazz, having by now had the time to call Amanda and give her an update on her tenant’s antics. And just to seal the blow, she opts to return the pendant of Drew’s grandmother’s which was recently gifted to her: “Keep it. It’s the only part of our mother’s estate you’re ever gonna see.” Is this goodbye for good to Summer Bay’s newly impoverished ice queen?Falling apartIn the wake of the disastrous wedding, Sally has been keeping a particularly low profile, consumed with feelings of guilt over what she’s done to Brad (who’s currently taking a well-earned break from the gossip-fuelled town). True to form, Colleen is doing little to ease her mind, far more concerned by a lack of action over that dreaded septic tank than she is about Sally’s heartbreak. And that’s not the only problem demanding Sally’s attention. Cassie is standing firm on her decision to be with Henk, and there’s nothing can stand in her way. It soon becomes clear that Sal’s influence is waning, because before long she finds herself driving Cassie straight to the city to see Henk, hoping that he, at least, will be able to do the right thing by ending the relationship once and for all. Can it really be that simple? Well, no. After a confession of undying love and some furious batting of her eyelashes, Cassie manages to win Henk over to her own way of thinking: if he won’t come back to the Bay, she can stay with him and the pair can live happily ever after (until she has to go back to school for her HSC, of course). It’s not exactly the outcome Sally was expecting, but she struggles to find the strength to convince Cassie to come home – especially when faced with some particularly persuasive arguments.

“What about Brad? You of all people must know that not everything is as simple as it looks on the surface,” Cassie says matter-of-factly, finally hitting a nerve. Determined to get back to the Bay to say goodbye to Don, Sally gives in and heads home, where she’s heartbroken to find that her old mentor has already left for the airport.

To add insult to injury, Ric turns out to be less than forgiving over the fact that she’s taken such a big gamble with Cassie’s future, forcing her to shoulder the blame for letting the family fall apart.
