Ned finishes the task of looting Number 26 and is almost caught in the act by Harold. Returning from the raceway, Steiger and the Timminses are devastated to find the house has been burgled. The neighbours rally round and Ned takes the opportunity to pop in and ensure he hasn't caused any long-term damage. He's horrified to discover the Timminses don't have insurance and that he has taken the last gift Steiger's late father ever gave him. Full of self-loathing, he snaps at both Steph and Toadie. Realising he can at least put one thing right, Ned returns Steiger's childhood train. However, this only serves to pique Steiger's suspicions. What sort of criminal has a conscience?Steph and Toadie continue to be awkward around one another. Steph is saddened to discover that Toadie has recently been out on a date but suggests that they can still be friends. Reluctantly, Toadie admits that he would prefer to stay on separate paths and find happiness elsewhere.Jealous of Stingray's bond with Kerry, Dylan takes his frustrations out at the raceway by almost running him over. The tension dissipates when Kerry has a health scare, and Dylan realises what's really important. Lou and Lolly receive a visit from Human Services, who Pepper has contacted about the suspected abuse. When Lolly overhears Lou say he'll have to get in contact with her father John and stepmother Sandy, she packs her bags and runs away. Sick and tired of Karl's appalling beard, Susan takes Steph's advice and tries to shave it off while he sleeps.
