Wily Paul cancels Ned’s debt to gain yet more control over his naive lackey. Full of self-loathing, Ned insists he wants nothing more to do with Paul. Not to be put off, Paul tempts Ned with gifts and encourages ‘flashy’ Ned to invite some party girls around for an afternoon’s entertainment. Paul hints he wants Ned to do another job for him but Ned refuses. But when Paul is beaten up by an unknown assailant and robbed of the Lassiter’s takings, it is later revealed that Ned is the culprit – a scam to take the heat off himself and his dealings with the Timminses. Despite his best efforts to resist Paul, poor Ned falls deeper into Paul’s wicked world and flourishes in the profits of his criminal behaviour.Having continually given Ringo the brush off, Rachel is flabbergasted to discover Ringo is her poetic secret admirer.
