Desperate to gain custody of Mickey, Kirsten’s convinced by Tim to attempt to goad Janae into violence. Kirsten uses some circus tickets to spend the day with Ned and Mickey – riling Janae, whose fury further mounts when she sees Kirsten make a pass at Ned. Confronting her bete noir, Janae allows her temper to get the better of her and lashes out in full view of Harold and Lou. Tim is delighted to catch Janae in the act and uses her attack as ammo against Toadie’s case. A disappointed Toadie warns Ned to rein Janae in – or risk losing Mickey forever.Toadie needs help with his heavy case load in Rosie’s absence. He could hire just anybody but instead audaciously goes after his and Rosie’s professional hero – freshly out of work gun barrister Diana Murray. While Diana admires Toadie’s moxie, his attempts to woo her fall flat until she learns the identity of Toadie’s adversary – Tim Collins. Delighted to have the chance to witness Toadie evict Tim from his law offices, Diana agrees to think about signing on. But it’s only when she sees Toadie among friends and family, honouring Rosie’s last day of articles, that lonely Diana decides for certain that this is a community she’d like to be a part of.
