ITV producers for the soap last week axed Katie Redford after it emerged she lied about her age in a bid to get the role of the 14-year-old.
19-year-old Lucy Fallon from Blackpool has now been cast and is to begin filming scenes this week, just days after landing the role.
Speaking of her addition to the show, she said: "Walking onto the set was surreal and nerve wracking but everyone has been really welcoming and I am thrilled to have been given this opportunity."
Bethany will return to the cobbles of Weatherfield later this year after moving to Italy with her mother Sarah when she was last seen in 2007.
Lucy's first appearance will come in late March when she returns following a row in Milan with her mum.
