The 47-year-old actor - who is known for playing busy-body businessman Ian Beale in the long-running soap - is fed up of having to work weekends and is considering starting a campaign to encourage bosses to change their policy.

A show insider told The Sun newspaper: "Adam is leading the campaign to stop working Saturdays. He's trying to get the rest of the cast on board as he doesn't think anyone should be filming on Saturdays. He's really unhappy."

Adam's plan of action comes just four weeks after it was claimed the hard-working cast were being made to take up temporary residence near the show's set at weekends in case they were needed for some last-minute filming.

And, although Adam reportedly takes home over £260,000 in wages every year, the long-standing actor - who has appeared on the show since 1985 - plans to put a stop to the apparently unbearable working conditions when he confronts the soap's new boss Sean O'Connor - who takes the reins from current producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins - in May.
