Jennie McAlpine says she isn't prepared for motherhood despite her role on Coronation Street.

The pregnant actress - whose character Fiz Stape is mother to baby Hope and stepmother to little Ruby on the soap - admits playing a mum on the show isn't sufficient preparation for becoming one in real life.

She explained: "I love them, they are adorable. We have twins who play baby Hope and there is one baby Ruby.

"I know people say it is practice, but I'm literally grabbing them for 10 minutes and then handing them back to their mum. I know I won't be doing that in a few months, in real life I will have to keep hold of this one."

Jennie also revealed she's been lucky enough to miss out on morning sickness so far.

She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I feel good. I feel glowing. I'm waiting for the opposite to happen. But because I'm still working I haven't had time to worry about that just yet."

The 30-year-old star - who is expecting her first child with partner Chris Farr - says producers have been very accommodating by allowing her to hide her growing baby bump with various props while filming.

She said: "I work behind a sewing machine or I'm always propping the bar up - so there are lots of things I can hide behind to cover up the baby bump."
