With so much on television this Christmas Day, there's often a power struggle for the TV remote, but fear not! We've put together three of the shows you cannot miss this festive season.

Paul O'Grady: For the Love of Dogs at Christmas (5.50pm, ITV)

Paul gets down to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home once more over the festive period, hoping to help staff rehome as many animals as possible in the big lead-up to Christmas. Visiting sites at Brands Hatch, London and Old Windsor, Paul meets a Parson Russell terrier named Patty who needs surgery to get rid of a lump on her neck. A suspected victim of back-street breeding is also featured - Phyllis the bichon frise - and Graham the labradoodle is close to losing his teeth for good. Mongrel pup Bruno is also looking for a new home, after his tearful owner brought him in after it turned out he just couldn't get along with her other pooch. It's going to be emotional.

Miranda (7.15pm, BBC One)

Bittersweet but oh-so-fantastic, the sitcom is back for its final two episodes in a Christmas special that Miranda Hart has written - but will her character get the happy ending she deserves? Here we see the show pick up where it last left off, with the shop owner receiving two proposals of marriage - one from new boyfriend Mike and the other from the gorgeous chef Gary. Which will she choose, if any at all, and if she does make a huge decision, could she live life with the pressures of being a wife? Co-starring as the rivals for her love are Tom Ellis and Bo Porah, whilst Sarah Hadland, Sally Phillips and Patricia Hodge all also star.

Alan Carr: Chatty Man Christmas Special (9pm, Channel 4)

An extended version of the chat show is hosted by everybody's favourite toothy comedian, with a couple of songs coming from the evening's house band. Chatting on the sofa this year are comedienne Sarah Millican, actor Dan Stevens, broadcasting icon Terry wogan, This Morning and The Cube presenter Phillip Schoefield and Celebrity Big Brother host Emma Willis. Gino D'Acampo also features, cooking with the celebrity guests, and live music comes from McBusted, George Ezra and Sam Smith.
