Goosebumps started out as a series of horror books for children from author R.L. Stine, and was soon adapted into a television series consisting of no fewer than 74 episodes.

Genuinely scary at times, Goosebumps managed to take the weird and wonderful imagination of Stine and combine it with fears that a lot of children had, resulting in a show like no other and one that became extremely popular in the 1990s.

When the show began to broadcast in the UK on CBBC from 1997, it actually had to have a lot of edits made because of the strict censorship rules, and so episodes and twist endings were a lot different to those Americans and Canadians would be used to, with a lot of scenes cut because they were too scary for young audiences.

One of the freakiest characters to be birthed from the series would be the Living Dummy, also known as Slappy, who would play destructive pranks on his owners and mayhem for everybody around.

He'll soon be making a return in the Goosebumps movie, but for now he's buried away with the rest of the Goosebumps series, all available to watch on Netflix UK, USA and Canada.
