The first eight minutes of the Scream television series have been released online by MTV, ahead of the season one premiere next week on Tursday, June 30 at 10pm on the network in America.

One major notable difference in this first eight minutes is of course the mask used by the killer in the show. We were told it was going to be different, but luckily it's managed to maintain its creepy factor.

There's a good slither of humour injected into the script, which is a lot of the time cheesy and predictable, but that's part of the charm of the original Scream movie franchise.

A flaw seems to come in that the very first victim of our murderer is a nasty and conniving cyber bully's boyfriend, rather than the Drew Barrymore sweet girl next door type. Because of that we don't care for him or his nasty girlfriend, and when the first cut is made on-screen it's actually more satisfying than gruesome. Thankfully, the Pomeranian survived.

With Bella Thorne's character thrown into the swimming pool, we're left wanting more, and so the eight minute teaser has done exactly what it was meant to. It'll now be interesting to see just how many horror fans tune in to see the rest of the season one premiere play out.
