Alan Cumming is currently on this 'Sappy Songs' tour, however he took time away from his busy schedule to film a new video with PETA on going vegan. He admits that ridding his diet of meat and dairy has given him more energy and affected his carbon footprint.

Cumming only recently appeared in a PETA US campaign wearing a pink T-Shirt that read 'Not a Dairy Queen'. In the latest video he says that after he ditched the dairy he noticed positive changes to his health;

"My skin cleared up - I used to have rosacea", he says. "My voice - you know, I would kind of have mucus things going on. And that's all to do with dairy."

The actor says that his new diet makes him feel good; " I feel much better. I feel I've got more energy. I feel cleaner. I feel younger."

Cumming also believes that vegan meals are kinder to the environment; "One of the biggest causes of global warming is because the meat industry, and literally the flatulence of cows in our world is causing a big problem".

Following Cumming's performance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, PETA -handed out free vegan ice cream in the city, which was recently named most vegan-friendly city in the UK.

Cumming joins a growing list of celebrities - including Joaquin Phoenix, Vivienne Westwood, Pamela Anderson, and David Haye - who have teamed up with PETA to promote healthy, humane meat-free meals.
