Why is food our greatest medicine?

Food can be our greatest medicine if we chose to eat food that is real and close to the source of all life, the sun. Nature has provided us with a bounty of food that is filled with life force and vital energy. This food has a cross section of phytonutrients designed to support our health and wellbeing.

When did your passion for nutrition begin and what sparked your interest?

My passion for nutrition began indirectly when I was a child and my mother got Multiple Sclerosis. She worked a lot with food to help support her health and reduce her symptoms. So from the age of 8 I saw a direct link between the food we eat and our health. Of course I rebelled as a teenager but then when I was becoming a mother the education I had as a child re awoke in me a passion to really help bring a happy and healthy being into the world and to support my families health through the food that they eat.

Please tell us about your books The Divine Detox Plan and Divine Desserts.

I have two books- the divine detox plan which is only an ebook. This is a 7 day plan with recipes and other guides on how to cleanse in a safe and effective way. This book is also designed for people who want to get more ideas on how to eat raw food.

The new printed book Divine Desserts is a really exciting book as it shows people how they can have their cake and eat it. Every one loves a sweet treat but in this book I show people how these sweet treats don't have to cost them their health. All the recipes are vegan, refined sugar free and gluten free.

What advice would you have for someone who now eats convenience food and wants to transition to a cleaner way of eating?

Just take it one step at a time. Start by introducing a smoothie in the morning and step by step replace the convenience food for real food. We don't have to do it all in one go, increase your greens as these will help cleanse the body and some of the build up of toxins. Where you might have had a normal brownie, replace it with one of my raw chocolate brownies that will not only taste good but leave you feeling good.

What foods should we eat each and every day and why?

It is so important to make sure we are getting enough water. Most people are chronically dehydrated and when we are dehydrated the first thing that suffers is our brain, so drinking clean water at least 2.5 litres a day is really important. The next most important this is essential fats, people have become so scared of fats leading to weight gain that they have avoided them, however and the clue is in the name, they are essential. The way to tell is something is a good fat or not is if it is raw, so raw nuts are great, roasted and salted ones not, avocado great, bacon not.. you get the idea.

Why do people often opt for medication to heal themselves when there is a simpler answer?

It's really all about education and support. People go to a doctor for advice to support the get better. If pills weren't handed out but rather nutritional advice then quite often people would have a choice. People quite often think that natural solutions wont work. The thing about natural solutions is sometimes they take a little longer to work as they are addressing the root of the problem and not acting as a plaster just covering the problem.

Please tell us about one of your nutritional consultations.

In my consultations I use muscle testing to look at where a person is at and what changes need to be made to help them reach their goals. I look at the gut and how to bring this into balance and also I test for food intolerances as this can quite often be causing a lot of issues such as bloating etc. that can be easily rectified. I also then create recipes based on the session and a daily routine, as well as offering email support.

What changes can people expect when they eat more healthfully?

People can expect more energy, clearer skin, reaching their optimum weight, feeling full of life force and vitality.

What is next for you?

I am just launching my first online course called Transformative Health and next month I will be launching a membership site, as well as the next book Superfoods and How to Use them coming out in November.
