Rock married Compton on the 23rd November after they met as the Essence Awards. While he has many platforms, as a comedian, screenwriter, television producer, film producer and director, Compton is the founder and executive director of StyleWorks, a non-profit salon which provides free services for women who are leaving welfare and going back to work.
They have two daughters together: Lola Simone and Zahra Savannah.
He said; 'The best part is just having a partner. There is no real worst part. I'm not going to say there's a worst part. I mean I'm a comedian - comedians like to work alone. So maybe I'm not the ideal guy to be married to, in that sense.
I've been married for 10 years and, you know, it's hard, you spruce it up and you go places. How do you spruce up anything? Artificially. You go places and do things.
I love having somebody there - that companion thing. You know who you're going to eat with, who you're going to see a movie with.' IMDB
The entertainment website announced in November 2006 that Rock had filed for a divorce after almost ten years marriage to Compton. They went back on their initial claims and reported that Rock had in fact not filed for divorce and that they were working through their problems.
The family were not without its difficulties after that, as in 2007, a freelance journalist Kali Bowyer claimed that Rock was the father of her son, however after a DNA test, it was proved that this was in fact not true.
The family all lived in Alpine, New Jersey until Rock filed for divorce in December 2014.
