If you’re looking to marry in the Seychelles there are a few things you’ll need to know before packing your bags and jetting off.

Here are a few hints and tips to consider before making your decision!

Research

Do your research about the islands and find out as much as you can before taking any more steps. Look into where you’d like to get married, how much the trip will cost as well as the wedding itself, and speak to couples who’ve already married there.

As it is a different country, there are likely to be specific rules when it comes to getting married there, so make sure you read into these first so you aren’t left with any nasty surprises later on.

Wedding Planner

If your heart is set on the Seychelles then it helps to get a wedding planner who is located in the Seychelles. They’ll help you with every step along the way and they will know the best areas and the rules behind marriage on the islands.

They can give you advice on your venue and will arrange the registrar for you. If you’re religious then your wedding planner can help you find a church or minister of your particular religion to conduct the ceremony.

Documents

There are a range of documents that you will need to have with you for your civil service in the Seychelles. You will both need a current, valid passport as well as your birth certificate. If you’ve been married previously you will need a divorce certificate and if you’re widowed then you will need your former spouse’s death certificate.

Copies of these documents are recommended to be submitted six weeks before your wedding date and you’ll need to bring originals with you. They are important factors in legalising your marriage, which once conducted will be recognised by European law.

Clothing

Every bride dreams about her wedding dress and how she wants it to look but it’s important to remember the hot weather in the Seychelles.

Both the bride and groom should choose something that isn’t going to be too heavy and hot so they can be as comfortable as possible on their big day!
