After all the larger bookings are made- then it's time to think about the finer details- like hair. Hairtrade has come up with a wedding hair timetable to make sure that you give yourself enough time to pick the perfect hairstyle for your face shape and to compliment your dress.

There is the consultation with your hairdresser (if you have a regular one- otherwise you might need to find a good one), hair trials and the final cut and color- so plan it out in your diary.

Making sure your hair looks glossy on the day means you need to start thinking about treatments three months before. You also need to schedule time to try out different styles to make sure that you have an informed decision.

Hair care expert Laura Meredith from Hairtrade.com said: "Perfect wedding hair doesn't just happen - it takes time and plenty of preparation to make sure your do looks amazing.

"The tricky part is knowing what to do and when. Key is to plan well in advance so everything's in place. By the time you're in the final countdown to the big day, you know you won't have to stress about how your hair will look.

"Our wedding timetable will do just that. It will give you a helping hand in knowing what to do when to make sure your hair looks gorgeous on your big day."

Three months

If you are looking for a dramatic change for your big day then you need to start thinking about this now and have a consultation- what you think could work, your hairdresser might have a different opinion on- trust the experts.

If you have a change of heart- there is still time to let it grow or try a different color for instance and if not- at least you have found your perfect cut and color ready for styling.

Ensure that you book for yourself but also your bridesmaids and mothers too as they fill up fast if your wedding is on a Saturday.

Two months

Buy some magazines or look on websites to give you some idea of what will look good against your dress, hair accessories, jewelry and veil. Keep them all together for your stylist to take a look at and give their opinion on.

One month

Use a hair treatment to moisturize and repair your hair if it's regularly coloured- perhaps do this every week until the wedding to make your locks look luscious.

Three weeks

You need to have your trial around about now so both you and your stylist know how long it takes and what you can both expect on the day. You can experiment if the one you thought was for you doesn't suit you the way you thought it would. If you have a few accessories- bring them all and try each out- they look totally different on.

Two weeks

The final cut and color needs to happen a couple of weeks before the wedding- this allows the hair time to adjust to the shape and color keeping your greys hidden and your split ends tamed.

One week

Confirm all your appointments with your hairdresser to put your mind at ease so you don't have any last minute panics. Give your hair another injection of moisture with a mask but not too close as your hair might be too soft to work with.

Your wedding day

Don't wear anything that needs to be taken over your head or you might mess up your do and if you are worried about the elements perhaps get someone to pick you up from the salon or drive yourself if its windy or raining.

Just sit back and enjoy being pampered for a few hours- and remember to pack a few spares in your wedding bag, like clips or styling products- it's a long day ahead of you and you might need to refresh your look.
