The former US President has vowed to "plant our beautiful American flag" on the red planet as he announced that he would be running for the White House again in 2024.
At his campaign launch at his Mar-a-Lago estate, Trump said: "We will expand the frontiers of human knowledge and will extend the horizons of human achievement. And we will plant our beautiful American flag very soon on the surface of Mars."
Trump has also promised a futuristic "defense shield" to protect the United States from the threat of nuclear weapons.
He said: "To protect our people from the unthinkable threat of nuclear weapons and hypersonic missiles, the United States must also build a state-of-the-art next-generation missile defense shield - we need it.
"The power of these missiles, and the power of a word I refuse to say - nuclear - we have to have it. And we're going to build it."
Trump has vowed to make working Americans at the heart of his campaign as he took aim at top Republicans and the media for suggesting that he shouldn't run for the presidency again.
The controversial politician said: "This will not be my campaign. This will be our campaign all together. Because the only force strong enough to defeat the massive corruption we are up against is you, the American people."
