Talk to me, pause a while; breath in the air.

A trifle chilly; it's that time of the year.

The porch is nice; cluttered, I agree;

like the view, it comforts me: houses and the trees.

I do not argue with your point of view,

I reject it; agreement is not the point.

Let's call a halt, let enmity rest.

Pause a while, breath in the air. A coffee?

Tea, Milo, there's some herbal tea somewhere.

Like the porch, I can smoke there.

Nice to see you, spend some time.

Milk in your tea, a slice of lime?

Speak to me of that which inspires you,

not of that which you fear. I might surprise you.

I might agree, and acknowledge common ground.

Speak to me of music, we might share a taste in sound.

I ask you this, I implore; talk to me,

do not shout, fix me with an angry eye.

Paint your picture not in black and white,

suffuse and enrich it with colour.

So here we go, there's the porch,

selected beverage in hand. Move the cat,

have a seat. Sorry, no cookies, shopping's next week.

May I introduce myself, my name is Les.
