Cee Lo Green has reinstated his Twitter account and apologised for "idiot" comments about rape that were attributed to him yesterday (02.09.14), insisting they were "untrue".

Green reinstated his account after deleting it yesterday (02.09.14) and while he didn't acknowledge that he had written the controversial tweets which appeared on his Twitter, he was very sorry about the statements and insisted they were "untrue".

He wrote: "I truly and deeply apologize for the comments attributed to me on Twitter. Those comments were idiotic, untrue and not what I believe. (sic)"

Cee Lo then posted a video of his song 'Bridges' - which includes the lyrics "I will build a bridge, over the troubled water for you; and "it's gonna get a little easier, a little easier for you to understand" - and insisted the tune is how he wants to be portrayed.

In a message attached to his video posting, he wrote: "This song is my absolute truth! It's all I ever wanted to be as an artist, man, and human being. I wholeheartedly...

"...believe I was born with this purpose. I love everyone, Lo - Bridges (sic)"

According to an article on BuzzFeed, the 39-year-old singer posted several comments about rape on his social networking account on Tuesday before deleting the posts and his account, just days after he pleaded no contest to furnishing ecstasy to a 33-year-old woman.

In response to other Twitter users, he allegedly wrote: "If someone is passed out they're not even WITH you consciously! so WITH Implies consent

"People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!! (sic)"

Shortly after he deleted his account it was revealed that Cee Lo's reality TV series 'The Good Life', which focused on his attempts to juggle his careers as a producer, recording artist and performer, had been axed.

Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the decision was made due to poor ratings, but the news came shortly after women's rights group UltraViolet petitioned network TBS to cancel the programme, which only ran for one season, following his alleged comments about rape.
