Lily Collins says honesty is the key ingredient to any and every relationship.

Collins, who is set to star in new rom-com Love, Rosie, says that relationships all develop at different speeds and it take people different lengths of find that honesty.

And Collins believes that all the work that you did to get to that point is worth it.

Speaking to Bang Showbiz, the actress said: "It doesn't matter how long it takes to get there, to be in love, as long as in the end people are honest. When you're honest it pays off.

"Everyone has their own speed at which they're honest, so I would say it's beautiful but it depends on person to person."

Collins has been linked to both Thomas Cocquerel and Zac Efron in the last twelve months, after splitting up with actor Jamie Campbell Bower.

The pair had dated for over a year when they called time on their relationship, having met on the set of The Mortal Instruments.

Collins walks the red carpet earlier this week to promote her new film Love, Rosie.

The romantic comedy sees her team up with Sam Claflin for the first time, as the Cecelia Ahern novel Where Rainbows End is adapted for the big screen.

Christian Cooke, Art Parkinson, Suki Waterhouse, Tamsin Edgerton, and Jamie Winstone make up the exciting young cast for the film.
