Coronation Street routed rival EastEnders winning seven awards at the British Soap Awards ceremony. The Street won prizes including Best Soap, Best Actress for Kate Ford (Tracy Barlow) and Best Actor for Antony Cotton (Sean Tully). Eastenders only showing was Lacey Turner who collected the Best Dramatic Performance for her role as Stacey Slater. Hollyoaks won three awards, and there were two each for Emmerdale and daytime drama Doctors. Rob James-Collier (Liam Connor) won Sexiest Male for, Best Newcomer for Kym Ryder (Michelle Connor), and Best Exit for Bill Ward (Charlie Stubbs) the ITV1 soap continued with the Best Storyline prize for the plot which saw Tracy take murderous revenge on cheating Charlie. Fellow ITV soap Emmerdale won two awards Best Dramatic Performance From A Young Actor or Actress for Eden Taylor-Draper (Belle Dingle), and Spectacular Scene of the Year for the house collapse. Hollyoaks' winners were Sexiest Female for Roxanne McKee (Louise Summers), Villain of the Year for Gemma Bissix (Clare Cunningham) and Best Comedy Performance for Gemma Merna (Carmel McQueen). Doctors celebrated awards for Best On-Screen Partnership for Stirling Gallacher and Sean Gleeson (George and Ronnie Woodson) and Best Single Episode for Shreds and Aftermath.

Former EastEnder Wendy Richard, who played Pauline Fowler, collected a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The awards, voted for by a mix of viewers and judges, were held at BBC Television Centre in west London.

The awards will be screened Wednesday 30 May 8.00pm ITV1.
