Lindsay Lohan's woes are mounting - she has been named a suspect in the theft of a luxury watch, according to a new report.

Police visited the Mean Girls star on Wednesday (21Apr10) to question her about the $35,000 (£23,000) Rolex, which reportedly belonged to one of her acquaintances.

The friend is said to have left the timepiece at Lohan's Los Angeles home earlier this year (10) but never got it back.

Lohan allegedly told cops she is not responsible for the missing watch, but TMZ.com claims she is a suspect in the investigation.

Her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley tells the website, "The allegations are completely untrue."

It's the latest drama to unfold in Lohan's life - on Thursday (22Apr10), the actress' dad Michael led a raid on her apartment in a desperate bid to convince her to seek help for alleged substance abuse issues.

Meanwhile Amanda Seyfried is hopeful her Mean Girls co-star Lindsay Lohan can sort out her personal problems, insisting the troubled actress will eventually "fall back in line".

Seyfried made her movie debut when she starred as Lohan's high school pal in the 2004 comedy, and she has since become a Hollywood leading lady with parts in box office hits including Mamma Mia! and Dear John.

Meanwhile Lohan, who has endured a string of legal problems and stints in rehab, went on to appear in a string of critically-panned films, including 2007's Georgia Rule and thriller I Know Who Killed Me.

But Seyfried is confident her former co-star will one day make a career comeback.

Speaking about Lohan, she tells E! Online, "I think it's just growth. People can fall out of line and fall back into it. I think it just takes some time.

"Clearly, people go through things and they deal with them differently. You've just got to be positive about it."
