Sanjay Dutt Released From Jail....

Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt has been released from jail after winning temporary bail earlier this week (20Aug07).The actor walked out of a high security prison in the western city of Pune, India, on Thursday (23Aug07).TV footage showed him smiling and shaking hands with police officials outside the prison before jetting off to Mumbai, where he lives, by helicopter.He remains on bail pending an appeal against his six-year prison sentence for illegal weapon possession.Dutt was handed the sentence last month (Jul07) after he was found to have received guns from individuals responsible for the 1993 bombings in Mumbai which claimed 257 lives.Dutt's lawyers immediately petitioned against his conviction and appealed for bail until the petition is ruled on. They complained they could not argue their case as they had not received a full copy of the judgement of the Mumbai court that convicted him.The Supreme Court agreed to free Dutt until his lawyers are sent a copy of the verdict. When this is done, Dutt must return to jail to file for appeal.
