As expected, Activision and Bungie's new collaborative release Destiny has topped the video game charts whilst also becoming the fastest-selling new game IP in the UK.

No numbers surrounding the game's sales have been released just yet, but they clearly surpass previous record holder Watch Dogs, which sold around 4 million copies worldwide in its first week.

Despite Microsoft's ban on officially advertising the game, sales were closer than expected with them taking 36% of total Destiny sales, and PlayStation 4 just 10% ahead.

Last-gen consoles made up 17% with Xbox 360 taking 14% of that however, so overall, Xbox platforms sold half of all Destiny units.

Other titles in the top 10 include EA's latest Sims game, The Sims 4, followed by Watch Dogs, Call of Duty: Ghosts at number four and The Last of Us: Remastered at number five.

The top 10 UK chart is as follows:

1. Destiny
2. The Sims 4
3. Watch Dogs
4. Call of Duty: Ghosts
5. The Last of Us: Remastered
6. Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition
7. NHL 15
8. Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare
9. Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition
10. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution
