Many people suffer from back pain - try an alternative therapy

Chronic pain affects eight million people in Britain - with most problems involving the back.

This costs the nation £12.3billion annually from health bills and lost productivity.

The likelihood is that when you visit your GP with any back pain they refer you to chiropractors or acupuncturists - so why not try a tried and tested therapy that has been circulating through the nation for the past 20 years.

Bear Grylls, star of Channel 4's Born Survivor has been treated by the Brighton Bowen therapist for many years now. He says: "It has helped keep my body together despite the continual bashing it takes."

The Bowen technique is a drugg-free, non-invasive therapy, which was invented in Australia. Brought over here in the 90s it has had a strong record of success in the treatment of back pain.

Bear Grylls continues: "It's a vital support in puttin right a whole range of new aches and pains, making sure that old injuries don't cause me problems, and helping me fight stress and fatigue."

The Bowen Therapy Professional Association (BTPA) conducted a national study in 2006 and found that 95 per cent of back pain sufferers experienced either complete relief or a marked improvement, after a series of no more than three Bowen treatments.

As well as back pain, the therapy has been proved to help with a number of other health issues, including: whiplash, hay fever, IBS and fertility matters.
