Pomegranate juice reduces stress levels

A new study reveals that drinking pomegranate juice reduces stress in the workplace.

Carried out at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh it investigated sixty volunteers ranging in all different working environments over a two-week period.

It found that after drinking 500ml of Pomegreat Pure pomegranate juice it caused a significant reduction in the level of stress hormones and in systolic and diastolic blood pressures in all of the volunteers.

Research Scientist, Dr Emad Al-Dujaili who led the study says: "On the basis of these findings there is a justified argument for busy workers to drink pomegranate juice to help alleviate chronic stress and maintain good health."

Mood status tests were also carried out during the study, they found that after drinking the juice people reported that they were more enthusiastic, inspired, proud and active. It also indicated that they were less distressed, nervous, guilty and ashamed.

Dr Emad Al-Dujaili continues: "There is a growing body of evidence that pomegranate juice delivers wide-ranging health benefits that merit further research. It is very rare indeed for an all-natural juice to offer the range of health benefits that we are seeing in pomegranate juice."

It seems that 41 per cent of us could do with something to help with stress levels. A study carried out by the charity Mind found that stress is prevalent in the British workforce. Remember to pack a bottle tomorrow morning.

Another benefit found from the juice is that it may redistribute weight around the body - moving flab away from the stomach and dreaded muffin tops.
