It’s the new celeb craze diet that allows you to drop weight fast and still eat 15 times day. A miracle you say? The truth is that it’s a lot of hard work, planning and leaves your body drained of energy, yet this still doesn’t stop woman embarking on the baby food diet in order to find a quick fix for losing weight.

Last year Jennifer Aniston was the first celebrity to take on the baby food diet in order to achieve her “physical peak” for her upcoming role in her new movie ‘Just Go With It’.

She teamed up with renowned trainer to the stars Tracey Anderson, who is highly praised by Gwyneth Paltrow, to help her get back in shape for the role.

Last year Anderson announced that she’d come up with a body cleanse that still allowed you to eat.

She told Hollyscoop, “I wanted something where you can eliminate toxicity and break bad habits but still have your digestive system going.

“That is when the baby food cleanse was born. You get to eat all day, these little puree things.”

The diet consists of eating 14 baby food portions and then one healthy adult meal. Aniston, for her main adult meal, was reported to be eating grilled fish and green vegetables although any lean meat with vegetables is acceptable.

Anderson suggests that you make your own baby food rather than buy the ready-made jarred versions, but as Anna Pursglove of MailOnline discovered, you need plenty of time and must be prepared to put in the effort and plan in advance.

Pursglove trialled the diet and wrote a piece for MailOnline. She found that it was extremely difficult to stick to the diet as it requires you to eat every hour in order to avoid hunger pangs and to maintain the correct level of calorie intake.

She tells an anecdote of when she was on the school run and tried to take her puree with her but ended up spilling it all over the curb when tackling a tricky pavement with the pushchair.

Pursglove also speaks of how the diet required rigorous planning and getting to know her blender extremely well. She also tells of how the diet left her experiencing “raging constipation”, something you don’t hear the A-listers of Hollywood talking about.

Unlike the Hollywood stars, real woman simply don’t have the time to prepare their own baby food and after seeing the effects the diet has had on stars such as Cheryl Cole, Lady Gaga and Reese Witherspoon, who have all been rumoured to have used the diet, women have hit the shops to buy the ready-made jars.

According to MailOnline, supermarket Ocado has seen a 20 per cent rise in sales of wet baby food compared with the same two-week period last year, and a 59 per cent rise in dry baby food.

With the summer holidays nearing, women are desperate to shift the pounds and have turned to the baby food diet for help.

Ocado reported a 100 per cent rise in orders for Heinz Mum’s Own Creamed Porridge and those for pasta and spaghetti bolognese purees are up by 87 per cent.

It’s been suggested that by sticking to the diet and regular exercise one could lose up to 20lb in six weeks. Despite the rapid weight loss, Nutritionists claim the diet will do no harm according to MailOnline.

A spokesperson for The British Dietetic Association said that the baby food diet needs to “grow up” and that people should be reaching for an apple rather than a jar of baby food as it doesn’t carry the right nutritional values for adults.

So I’m thinking you’re wondering how much Anna Pursglove actually lost after a gruelling week on the baby food diet? 5lbs, which as she said herself isn’t too bad but it certainly isn’t worth the effort that you have give in order to stick to it.

So there you have it ladies, you may as well put your energy to better use and lose the weight the good old traditional way, healthy eating and plenty of exercise!
