- Jupiter Ascending (released 25th July)

If science fiction is your thing then Jupiter Ascending could well be the movie for you next year as Andy and Lana Wachowski return to the director's chair.

The Wachowskis have written the screenplay and will also produce the film as well as direct.

Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum will lead an all star cast that includes Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth and Tuppence Middleton.

Jupiter Jones (Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning toilets and an endless run of bad breaks.

Only when Caine (Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along - her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

The Wachowskis have a real knack for delivering great sci-fi films, and I have my fingers crossed that this is going to be another corker.

- Godzilla (released 16th May)

I have to admit that I have never been the biggest Godzilla fan in the world... but I am excited to see what director Gareth Edwards does with the remake.

This is Edwards' first feature film since he made his debut with Monsters back in 2010.

The movie is based on the Japanese monster of the same name and is only the second Godzilla film to be make fully by an American studio - the first being the not so great 1998 film.

This time around Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, Sally Hawkins and Ken Watanabe are all on the cast list.

Not too much about the plot is known, except that a great big creature is going to appear and cause havoc.

- Guardians of the Galaxy (released 1st August)

If you are a Marvel fan then you are in for a real treat next summer as there is not one film from the studio hitting the big screen, but two.

We will be introduced to Guardians of the Galaxy for the very first time as James Gunn takes up the director's chair.

Filming has got underway on the project and there is already plenty of excitement building around the film.

Vin Diesel, Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Benicio Del Toro, John C. Reilly and Dave Bautista make up the cast list - I have to admit the more I hear about this the more I am looking forward to it.

The film is set to follow a jet pilot who, after getting stranded in space, must bring together a diverse alien team to fight off incoming threats.

This is perhaps one of the most bold Marvel movies so far but it could be a mammoth summer hit.

- The Wolf of Wall Street (released 17th January)

It is always great to see Martin Scorsese team up with Leonardo DiCaprio and The Wolf of Wall Street is their next project together.

It is their first film since the fantastic Shutter Island and I am excited to see them working together once more.

The movie is based on the true story of Jordan Belfort, a New York stockbroker who refuses to cooperate in a large securities fraud case involving corruption on Wall Street, corporate banking world and mob infiltration.

A fantastic cast has been assembled for the film as DiCaprio is joined by Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey, Jon Favreau and Kyle Chandler.

I am a big fan of Scorsese as a filmmaker and it is great to see him back in the director's chair.

- I, Frankenstein (released 24th January)

January is a time that the big screen is littered with Oscar movies, so it is a breath of fresh air to see I, Frankenstein on the release schedule.

Directed by Stuart Beattie the movie is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Kevin Grevioux.

Aaron Eckhart takes on the central role of Adam Frankenstein, who finds himself involved in a war between two immortal clans in an ancient city.

So if you are looking for a movie that is a little different in the New Year, then this could well be the film for you.

Other to watch out for include The Monuments Men, The Seventh Son, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For and 300: Rise of an Empire.
