Colin Farrell and Marion Cotillard are to play man and wife in filmmaker David Cronenberg's new movie, Cosmopolis.

Cronenberg has adapted the screenplay for the thriller from Don DeLillo's novel of the same name.

Farrell will play a multimillionaire asset manager, who loses his fortune in 24 hours, according to Daily Variety.

Cronenberg is about to begin filming A Dangerous Method, reuniting him with Viggo Mortensen and also starring Keira Knightley.

Cosmopolis is the project that will follow.

It's been a busy year for Farrell already with Crazy Heart and Ondine already under his belt, he also stepped into the role of Tony in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus after the death of Heath Ledger.

He is back on the big screen later this year in London Boulevard, which will see him star alongside Knightley.

Cotillard is back on the big screen this summer as she stars with Leonardo DiCaprio in Christopher Nolan's Inception.

She is also set to shoot Midnight In Paris with Woody Allen this summer.
