With Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness set to hit cinemas across the UK this week (May 5th, 2022), critics have been giving some of their first impressions via social media, for the Sam Raimi-directed Marvel Cinematic Universe flick.

What seems to be the most prominent aspect of many reactions, is that the movie has the signature Raimi style that allows horror to seep in through the usual MCU formula.

Others praise Elizabeth Olsen for her portrayal of Scarlet Witch, who is coming off of the back of the trauma experienced following the loss of Vision and, her family in WandaVision.

You can see some of the early reactions for the film for yourself below:

Raimi is of course well known for taking on the original Spider-Man trilogy, which saw Tobey Maguire step into the titular role of the Webbed Wonder. Maguire would return as the Marvel Multiverse was split wide open by Tom Holland's Peter Parker, in December 2021's huge hit Spider-Man: No Way Home, which also brought Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man back to the big screen.

If these early responses are anything to go by, Marvel Studios has another hit on its hands with Multiverse of Madness.

Exactly whether it will elevate Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange however, remains to be seen. It may just be the case that he is outshined by the other leading figures taking the spotlight in this feature.
