Godzilla

A Godzilla sequel is already being planned by Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures.

Godzilla hit the big screen in the U.S. and UK this week: it took a whopping $93 million at the U.S. box office over the weekend.

The movie was the second directorial outing for Gareth Edwards, and starred Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen.

Speaking to Variety.com, John Jashni - the Legendary president and chief creative officer - said: "You can't ask for a better situation when you have a group of people, who were perhaps expecting to be let down were impressed.

"It all lines up when that eco-system aligns and starts feeding off itself. It's very validating."

"Our initial goal was to re-brand and re-establish the property in a Tiffany way. Now, we're trying to take in all of the results of the weekend."

It has not yet been revealed if Edwards and members of this cast list would be returning for the sequel.

Godzilla has really kicked off the summer blockbuster season, and looks set to be one of the most successful films of the summer period.
