The announcement of Sackhoff's casting came at the Cannes Film Festival, where the film is being sold by Content Media.

Don't Knock Twice will see Caradog James in the director's chair for what will be his first feature film since the release of The Machine last year. Mark Huckerby and Nick Ostler are also on board the project having penned the screenplay.

Don't Knock Twice is based on a psychologically terrifying urban legend. To save her estranged daughter, a guilt-ridden mother must uncover the terrifying truth behind the urban legend of a vengeful, demonic witch.

Filming on Don't Knock Twice is set to get underway in July in the UK - no release date for the film has yet been announced.

The film is being produced by Red & Black Films' John Giwa-Amu (The Machine, The Call Up) and Seymour Films' Claire Moorsom. Content's President of Film, Jamie Carmichael, serves as Executive Producer.

Sackhoff is best known for her role in Battlestar Galactica, but has seen her movie star rise over the last couple of years with roles in Riddick and horror movie Oculus.

She continues to mix her film and television work as we have also seen her in Robot Chicken and Longmire.

As well as Don't Knock Twice, Sackhoff has also been linked to roles in Girl Flu and an currently untitled Adi Shankar project.
