Based on the critically-acclaimed best-selling novel of the same name by Jo Nesbø, The Snowman will see Harry Hole finally brought to the big screen, with Michael Fassbender taking on the role alongside other stellar performers including Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Gainsbourg and J.K. Simmons. Check out a new trailer for the film below:

Directed by Tomas Alfredson using a screenplay by Hossein Amini and Peter Straughan, this thriller sees elite crime squad lead detective Harry Hole (Fassbender) investigate the disappearance on the first snow of winter, with hints that an elusive serial killer could be at large and active once more.

Working alongside a brilliant new recruit (Ferguson), the two must connect the dots of fresh cases with those that have been left unsolved for decades if they’re to outwit the evil mastermind that’s planning to take more lives with each snowfall.

Shot entirely on location in Norway in the cities of Oslo and Bergen, as well as the area of Rjukan, The Snowman is without a doubt going to be one of the most visually stunning thrillers of the year.

Fans of the novel will be hoping that the film can impress just as much as the book and, as this is Harry Hole’s first venture onto the big screen, we expect that, if a success, we’ll see him return in the future in one of the many other novels he’s been a part of.

Check out more first look stills from the film below, and catch The Snowman in UK cinemas from October 13.
