The Jungle Book

The Jungle Book marks the return of Jon Favreau back to the director's chair as he puts his own stamp on the Rudyard Kipling classic.

The director has brought together an impressive cast as Idris Elba, Scarlett Johansson, Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley and Christopher Walken have all lent their voices to the live-action film.

The movie comfortably powered to the top spot at the box office and it looks like Disney has another major hit on its hands. The Jungle Book follows the success of Cinderella and Maleficent in recent years.

Zootropolis was the only none-mover on the chart this week as the Disney animation film stayed put at number two.

The movie has grossed over $20 million in the UK alone and has now taken in excess of $883 million at the global box office.

Eye in the Sky was the second new entry inside the top three as the war drama opened at number three. Starring Helen Mirren, Aaron Paul, and Alan Rickman, Eye in the Sky explores drone warfare and the moral implications of fighting this way.

The movie has been met with critical acclaim and took £1.1 million in its opening weekend. Eye in the Sky sees Gavin Hood back in the director's chair for the first time since Ender's Game.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Eddie the Eagle were both one place fallers this week as they finished the weekend at four and five.

The Huntsman: Winter's War was one of two five-place fallers as the blockbuster slipped from one to number six after just a week in the top spot.
