Joshua Radin

Joshua Radin

The first time I heard Joshua Radin’s new album, I was in love… never before had I heard something quite as immense, so when the opportunity arose for a little chat, I couldn’t resist it…

Hello there, what are you up to?

Laying in bed, answering your questions. Otherwise, writing my next record.

So, you’re getting ready to release your new album ‘Simple Times’ can you tell us a bit about it?

It's a year and a half of my life. Journal entries set to music. All truthful and some very painful.

Why did you choose to release ‘One Of Those Days’ as the first track from that album?

I didn't. The record company chose to. But I'm happy they did. It's one of my favourites on the record.

There is a lot of competition in the business today, do you think you have what it takes to give the big names a run for their money?

Probably not. I don't really care about that.

So, if you could recommend just one song of yours for us to download so that we want to hear all of your music, what would it be?

Too difficult a question. That's why I write full length records.

If I was contemplating coming to your show or sitting at home and watching Big Brother, how would you get me out of the house?

I would tell you that if you're watching a reality show rather than supporting indie music, something has gone horribly wrong. :)

We’ve got to admit you’re a little bit cool, so what advice would you give to someone just starting out, knowing what you know now?

I'm so far from cool, believe me. I'm a nerd. The advice I would give would be to be a nerd. Read books and don't get into this business to be famous. Only get into it if you are ok with being poor but happy. If you end up actually making money, it's just gravy.

So, if Joshua Radin was an acronym what would each letter stand for?

Ha! Um... I have no idea. Scuba is easier.

If you could only listen to one CD for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Wow, impossible questions. Um, maybe the Beatles' revolver.

Okay, now we want to ask you some random questions; Tell me about the most terrifying experience of your life…

Every time I get on an airplane.

What’s the most stupid purchase you’ve ever made?

Diamonds for my ex-girlfriend. Ha. Just kidding. well, maybe not.

Why go to the top of a tall building, only to put money in binoculars and look at things on the ground?

I never do that. I enjoy the ground.
