Kasabian

Kasabian think their new album is like a drug.

The band's lead vocalist Tom Meighan has compared their forthcoming fifth record, the follow-up to 2011's 'Velociraptor!', to a "hardcore" class-A substance because it's so unexpected and ambitious.

Tom enthused: "The process starts simple. Serge [Pizzorno, guitarist and songwriter] gets a demo and then we build on it, and then he mutates it with rocket fuel and liquid nitrogen and it's crisp and its crack and its smack. It's a dangerous, dangerous, dangerous, dangerous drug we've created.

"I can't get my head round it. It's rock 'n' roll, it's got the rawness and its edgy, but we've gone back to electronic and we've gone beyond leftfield. What else can we do? ... This is hardcore. We want to put it out there and let people stew in it. Let them worry about it. Then tour the motherf**king hell out of it."

The 'Shoot The Runner' hitmakers are hoping the album - whose name is being kept secret until its release - will prove their critics wrong and outdo their rival bands with the sheer brilliance of their new songs.

Tom added to NME magazine: "This is the most excited I've ever been. The album is a real 'f**k you' to anyone who ever dared criticise or snarl at us, and say we can't do music like this. It's a real f**king 'up yours'. There are a lot of bands who try to do this kind of music but fail because they've got no songs. "
