Kasabian's Tom Meighan has continued the band's assault on One Direction by labelling the group as five "no-ones" who have "won the lottery".

As frontman of the band, Tom was happy to pick up NME Awards last night for Best British Band, Best Album and Best Quote, but went on to insist One Direction got lucky with their careers and will be splitting soon.

Tom said: "They're f***ing millionaires but they're five no-ones who won the lottery. They're massive, but they're a product, we're not.

"They're like shampoo. You buy it to put in your hair and wash it out, like the Spice Girls.

"Thing is, they'll all get angry with each other, fall out and do too many drugs. They'll wanna be f***ing arty and do something clever and they'll break up."

Kasabian were nominated for eight NME Awards last night despite missing out on any nominations at all for this year's BRITs.

Guitarist Serge Pizzorno has insisted that the group are the real winners anyway, as he'll be smoking cannabis and getting drunk in the sun whilst the ceremony is on next week.

He said to The Sun newspaper: "I'm gonna be at the beach somewhere, smoking great weed and drinking incredible rum cocktails.

"That's much more than a consolation prize. It's a winner."
