The 1975

Indie rock band The 1975 think the rate of their success has been "overwhelming" but they'd have been disappointed if it hadn't all happened so fast.

The Manchester foursome have enjoyed an incredible 2013 so far and performed at Glastonbury at the weekend, but singer Matthew Healy believes they deserve the plaudits heaped on them and are ready for the big time.

He told BANG Showbiz: "The speed that everything's accelerated at has been overwhelming. I think it has been very fast but I think we'd have been disappointed if it hadn't."

The band have been busy touring the UK, mainland Europe and the US for the last few months and are getting ready to release their debut album in September after putting out four EPs as a teaser of their music.

'Chocolate' singer Matt - whose parents are 'Loose Women' presenter Denise Welch and 'Benidorm' actor Tim Healy - added: "At the moment we're just giving people a taster of what we are about.

"We put a lot of work into our first EPs because we knew that if we were going to release music and if we were going to ... open ourselves up for a criticism - which we didn't really need, we've always been happy just making music for ourselves - but once we made the decision we were going to do that we knew we were going to do it the right way."
