Duchess Catherine

Duchess Catherine

Britain's Duchess Catherine has joked that Prince William should wear an alpaca toupee to hide his thinning hair.

The 32-year-old royal teased her husband, whom she married in 2011, about the bald patch on his head, claiming that a wig made from wool would solve his problem.

The couple were being shown alpaca wool during a tour of the Sydney Royal Easter Show when the Duchess cracked the joke.

Lyn Cregan, 67, from Glen Innes is quoted by the Daily Mail newspaper as saying: "The princess said [the Duke] should put some on his head.

"She pointed at him and said 'You need it more than me'."

William, who has teased the Duchess over her choice of clothing during the three-week tour of Australia and New Zealand, took it in his stride and just laughed.

Meanwhile, Duchess Catherine - known as Kate Middleton before her marriage - looked stunning in a white lace knee-length frock, which she'd teamed with brown wedges and a gorgeous crystallised clutch bag.

The couple were greeted by a flock of fans as they turned up to the show, which is one of the highlights of Australia's social calendar.

The royal pair - who were not joined by their nine-month-old son Prince George - will later go on to Manly beach in Sydney to watch a display of surf life-saving.
