A website has found this week that because of the unexpected weather experienced here in Britain over the last two weeks people are searching for more holidays in this country rather than abroad, in a 4:1 in advantage.

The heat wave has caused us to look more favourably on our own country rather that to go abroad this year.

Vouchers Codes Pro found a 131% increase in the number of holiday related discount searches in the first couple of weeks in July. These results were compared to the amount of searches accessed last year.

Due to this Voucher Codes Pro took 1,311 adults from the UK and asked about their opinions of staying at home this year.

37% of the people in the study have looked for discounted holidays in the UK, 3% admitting that, as expected, the weather has had an influence on their decision. 23% wanted to save money by not having to foot the cost of flights and transfers. 18% said that they simply like to stay in the country for their vacations.

They were also asked if the weather had encouraged them to visit places they had not been to in the UK over countries such France, Turkey, and Spain the majority said that they would.

George Charles of VoucherCodesPro.co.uk had the following to say about the findings:

“It seems that the warm weather has done more than influence Britons’ personal fashion choices- it seems to influence their holiday choices too! We have seen a dramatic increase in searches for UK holidays and travel packages on-site, meaning that many travellers want to take the opportunity to enjoy the great weather whilst visiting some of the historic and beautiful country sights.

He continued:

“UK holidays are a great way to explore bits of the country that you haven’t seen before and with the sunshine set to continue into the next couple of weeks, it has never been a more perfect time to grab yourself a bargain and take a holiday. Be sure to visit sites like VoucherCodesPro for the best up to date deals when it comes to travel and savings whilst on holiday.”
