Abra wakes up face down in the Holby coffee bar unshaven and lost to the world. Ric makes clear his behaviour yesterday was unacceptable with the young car accident victim. Ric tells him that any more incidents like that will ruin any chances he has for the Director of Surgery position as Abra’s actions reflect on him. Michael has a word with Abra, telling him that he needs help and shouldn’t be at Holby ruining Ric’s chances of promotion.

Connie wakes up to find a note left by her mystery man she met in the bar the night before. It reads ‘Sorry, had to rush’ although he has left his number, making Connie smile with delight.

Carl Webster, a famous doctor and also the ‘patient from hell’ is in Holby. Webster makes the visit for a serious lung disease. His daughter, Rebecca, who is not yet 16 is a daddy’s girl with a precocious knowledge of the medical world, and as Ric is talking through the options Carl and Rebecca seem to be having a teaching lesson giving her personal medical opinion on her father’s condition until she falls to the ground with pains in her stomach. Ric picks her up and gets her some medical attention.

Maddy discovers from the secret sample tests she requested the real reason Liam Harris died. It wasn’t Linden at all but James who gave the patient too much potassium. Maddy wants to go straight to Jayne to tell her, but Sam questions her about what she will say if Jayne asks how she ‘stumbled’ across the results. Maddy doesn’t think Jayne will care where she got the results from but Sam’s not too sure.

After fainting in front of Ric and his patient, Abra is told to go home and get some rest but he actually goes to another ward to be out of sight of Ric. There Rebecca talks to Abra about her father, her mother, her recent trip to India and starts to diagnose herself.

Faye’s reputation as a good nurse is on the line as she cannot get rid of an elderly gentleman who refuses to leave Holby, believing he deserves more treatment. Lola is not impressed with Faye’s way of dealing with the situation and demands that she gets rid of him as the bed is needed for more serious patients.

Abra returns to see Rebecca and is confused by her symptoms. Kyla tries to comfort her but finds a huge pool of blood between the girl’s legs. Abra stares at the blood and has a flash back to his time in the Congo when he saw a young girl covered in blood, much like Rebecca.

Maddy goes to see Jayne with the results but Jayne wants to know how she came to find them. Maddy is scared and lost for words as Jayne tells her how serious it is that she has stolen samples off limits to her.

Abra’s mind begins to play tricks on him as he sees Rebecca sitting on the floor in the hall but then disappears in a blink of an eye. Abra runs to Kyla to ask if Rebecca had been there the whole time, but Abra is disoriented and with Congo drum beats in his head he runs off.

Maddy meets Carl Webster, who believes he has seen Maddy before, Maddy informs him she had taken his medical lessons five years before. Ric appears and asks what Maddy is doing up here with Webster, Maddy informs him that she was simply there to inform him of Rebecca’s condition. Webster is impressed with Maddy’s abilities and suggests that she assists Ric during his procedure. Maddy is delighted by the opportunity but Ric is unimpressed although he agrees so as not to ruin his chances of promotion.

Abra talks to Joseph about Rebecca’s condition and is sure that the girl is making the whole thing up, but Joseph shows him her blood test results that show that she had miscarried. Abra asks Rebecca why she didn’t tell them but she claims that she has never had sex. Abra thinks that she needs psychological help.

Meanwhile, Connie receives a call from her mystery man while talking to Michael. He probes Connie about why her face has suddenly lit up with excitement but Connie brushes it off, telling him that it was just her nanny, but he doesn’t believe her.

Abra wants to seek out more answers to Rebecca’s condition and searches through her personal possessions, pulling out a box of pills.

Abra seeks out Webster who is just about to have chest scans before his operation and calls him a bad father. An argument breaks out as Ric enters the room and he pushes Abra out of the room. Ric tries to talk sense in Abra as he could have killed Webster in his condition.

Webster’s procedure is well underway with his students watching and Webster wide awake giving a lesson to the students from the operating table as Ric is operating.

Webster’s lungs start to bleed and Ric and Maddy work quickly to fix the problem with the watching Webster asking questions. Maddy acts quickly and stops the bleeding before an impressed Ric and an even more impressed Webster.

Maddy tells Linden about what she has done but he isn’t impressed and asks Maddy why she doesn’t think things through before doing them. However, he sees that Sam and Maddy were only trying to help and says he will tell Jayne that it was done in good faith.
