Holby City

The morning doesn’t start too well as during a staff meeting Davina tells everyone that she’s really sorry but there’s going to be no Christmas party this year. There are no funds left. Donna can’t believe this- they have had a massive year and no thank you. Davina tries to explain that its not her fault but Donna decides that if the board won’t pay for a party she will raise the cash herself. Meanwhile Maria and Sam are loved up after spending the night together – neither have any idea of the other’s connection to Kieron.

Ric is having trouble concentrating on his work as he can’t get Michelle and his new found grandson out of his mind, he wants to go and find them but isn’t sure if he should. Linden finds Ric - he’s convinced that they need to perform a radical procedure on Callie that will save her. Ric is not too sure – a big ethical debate is the last thing he needs right now. Linden persuades Ric to hold a conference on Callie’s case. Ric gets back to his office to find a letter with a photo of his grandson inside. Michelle had posted it as a thank you but there’s no other information. Ric can’t help but think that this is Michelle’s way of letting him know that she wants him to contact her. Should he pursue her or should he concentrate on his work?

Daisha has made up her mind, she is 100% sure she is having baby Joe adopted. A social worker has found a family and Daisha wants to know more about them. So she arranges a meeting to see if they are good enough for Joe.

Ric tries to gather information about where Michelle might be. He has her medical records but has no address. Ric puts a call in to her GP, who won’t release the information. Ric has no choice but to concentrate on his work. At Callie’s case conference Linden puts up an impassioned plea to Ric and Connie to trial this treatment on her, but he’s largely met with opposition – it’s too expensive, too experimental and too risky. Ric watches on distracted. Linden almost defeated turns to Ric who weighs up the evidence and says that Linden’s case is pretty compelling. Ric knows that siding with Linden will create more work for him at Holby and make it harder for him to leave to find Michelle but he is convinced that Linden’s treatment is the right course of action.

Mark overhears what Daisha is up to, and thinks about saying something but Daisha stops him – this is what she wants to do, she’s sure. As the meeting with the adoptive parents approaches Daisha is completely cool and levelheaded. Mark is fussing round her, thinking that she might get a little emotional, giving up the baby. Mark continues to try and persuade Daisha into keeping Joe but Daisha has made up her mind – or has she?

Donna tries to get Maria on side – she’s going to need her help saving the Christmas party, but Maria still isn’t over Donna’s antics. Donna’s massively unimpressed with the lack of support she has shown. She looks into Christmas venues and finds a cheap possibility - they can buy a whole Christmas package for £1000. Donna knows she has an in with Elliot and gets him to spread the word among the consultants, then she has a whip round. Some people are miserly; some are generous. Meanwhile Maria and Sam are interrupted by Sam’s phone – it’s Kieron, he wants to see Sam. Sam suddenly goes cagey and cold with Maria, he fobs her off saying it’s ‘kid stuff’, Maria assumes it’s to do with Connie and their daughter Grace. Sam goes off to see Kieron.

Louise, the woman wanting to adopt baby turns up early to see Daisha. This doesn’t make the best impression with Daisha, as she doesn’t like to be distracted at work, which is one of the reasons she is giving up baby Joe. Louise and her husband have previously been disappointed by the adoption process, and she needs to know Daisha is 100% certain that she wants to make this decision. Daisha is sure, but she must leave get back to her job.

Ric sorts out the procedure for Callie. The operation’s controversial but he’s sanctioned it and has to be there. If anything goes wrong it’s going to fall on his shoulders. Ric and Michael perform the operation on Callie. Ric tries to concentrate on the job in hand, but needs more information on Michelle as soon as possible and uses the telephone during the operation to try and get more information on Michelle’s whereabouts. Michael isn’t too pleased with Ric’s personal life affecting his work, but everything goes to plan. Ric and Linden wait with Callie post-operation, but she doesn’t come round. The operation has been a success, but it doesn’t seem to have made any difference to Callie. Linden is frustrated by the outcome.

Daisha later meets with the couple wanting to adopt baby Joe. Louise is alone and Daisha asks where her husband, Stewart, is? Louise explains that he is on his way but Daisha doesn’t seem to be very happy, as this is another thing that will distract her from work.

Maria notices Sam and Kieron talking but she has no idea why. Sam leaves and Keiron goes to find Maria, but she avoids him and makes excuses as she is in love with Sam. Donna continues to be frustrated in her attempts to organise the Christmas party.

Louise’s husband, Stewart, finally arrives after locking his keys out of the car in the rush to get there. None of this impresses Daisha, although Louise seems to have a bond with baby Joe.

Donna ropes Connie into helping save the Christmas party, but even her attempts fall flat. Maria and Donna fall out, using the party as an excuse to air their true feelings. Donna counts up her collection – she has around £700 but it’s not enough until she catches Sam in a moment of happy madness and he agrees to donate the rest. Donna can’t believe it - Christmas will come to Holby! She’s going to throw the best Christmas party ever and she’s done it all by herself, no thanks to Maria. Meanwhile Maria confronts Sam about how he knows Kieron. She goes into a tailspin when she hears the truth about Kieron being Sam’s son and doesn’t know what to do.
