The 'This Morning' presenter - who co-hosts the show on Fridays alongside Alison Hammond - will head to Ireland, where his parents Maria and Sean are from, for the new show.

A TV insider told The Sun newspaper's TV Biz column: "Dermot has always been incredibly close to his parents and very proud of his Irish heritage, having spent many a summer holiday back in the Emerald Isle.

"The show would also see him explore another of his great loves - food and drink. And modern Ireland has plenty of both."

Dermot's parents moved over to England in 1968, and he was born and raised in Essex.

But Maria and Sean made the move back to the Emerald Isle three years ago.

The insider added: "It’s also a cheeky chance to drop in on his parents while he’s over there."

Dermot will show off his culinary skills this Sunday (07.04.24) when he appears in 'The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up 2 Cancer' on Channel 4, and the star recently admitted he would love to "do more on TV about food".

He said: "I love cooking. I cook all the time as it relaxes me.

"I’d love to do more on TV about food."

Dermot will go up against Spice Girls singer Mel B, Radio 1 DJ Greg James, and comedienne Fern Brady in a bid to be crowned Star Baker by 'Bake Off' judges Dame Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.
