The former 'Coronation Street' actress has progressed from walking 3km to working out for 20 minutes at a time on her exercise bike, after she went under the knife in January but suffered "a few infections" shortly afterwards.

Writing in her OK! magazine column, she said: "I've been able to work out on my new exercise bike over the past week.

"It's from Apex Rides and it's brilliant.

"I've just been doing short bursts of 20 minutes or so, but it feels like such an improvement since my operation.

"It really does feel as though I'm getting there and building my strength back up."

Last week, the 44-year-old actress told fans how she had managed her "first longish walk" following her op.

She said: "I achieved my first longish walk this week.

"I managed 3km, which is a lot given my recent surgery.

"So I was chuffed with that as I got to take the dog out in the sunshine.

"It seems to be getting better every week and I've been given some more exercises to strengthen my groin area, so I feel like I'm making progress finally."

Last month, Kym admitted her recovery had been slower than she expected.

Speaking in early February, she said: "I had an operation on my hernia last week. I'm doing OK now, but I hoped to recover a little bit quicker than I am.

"I did hit some complications afterwards as my blood pressure was very low.

"I also couldn't pee, which is apparently quite common after hernia operations, so I had to be kept in overnight.

"But thankfully I made a bit of a recovery and was able to go home the next day."
