Kym Marsh's recovery from a hernia operation has been slower than she expected.

The former 'Coronation Street' actress went under the knife last week, and while the operation "hit some complications", with Kym's blood pressure "very low" afterwards, she is "OK now".

She said: "I had an operation on my hernia last week. I'm doing OK now, but I hoped to recover a little bit quicker than I am.

"I did hit some complications afterwards as my blood pressure was very low.

"I also couldn't pee, which is apparently quite common after hernia operations, so I had to be kept in overnight.

"But thankfully I made a bit of a recovery and was able to go home the next day."

The 'Morning Live' co-host is still "swollen and bruised" following the op, but she feels grateful her boyfriend Scott Ratcliff - who is in the Army - has been at home to help her get better.

She wrote in her OK! magazine column: "When I went in I thought I had one hernia, which is an inguinal hernia, but actually when they went in, they found a second one called a femoral hernia.

"It's less common, but it can cause problems if it's not treated.

"So I'm glad the surgeon found that and I've had the two repaired. It was at the top of the leg, so moving is difficult as I'm very swollen and bruised.

"It's been difficult, but thank God Scott has been here as he's been able to get me up and about.

"It's painful, but I'm glad it's been done."

Last week, Kym revealed she had keyhole surgery, and she was in pain from the instruments used during the op.

She said: "Weirdly, because I had it done keyhole, the pain I'm getting is where they've gone in with the instruments rather than the actual groin area."
