Mark Wright says landing a date with his wife Michelle Keegan was harder than cracking America

The couple, who tied the knot on 24 May 2015, are all loved up and enjoying married life after moving into their £3.5million mansion last year, but the former ‘TOWIE’ star - who met Michelle, 35, whilst on holiday in Dubai at the end of 2012 - thinks it was harder to win over his wife than it was to make it in the US.

Speaking on the 'Private Parts' podcast to host Jamie Laing, he said: “I chased her for a while. Basically she gave me the elbow for about a year and then finally I got my way.

“I don’t know who was harder to crack actually – her or my US boss. Probably her, and that’s saying something.

“'Then about literally a year later of us bumping into each other I finally sort of asked her out and it went from there.”

In 2017, Mark embarked on his dream of making it stateside by signing a year-long contract of presenting a late night segment for Extra at Universal Studios in Los Angeles.

However, Mark was not cut out for the American dream as he quit his job after two years to move back to the UK to be with his wife, while they are also busy renovating their Mallorca apartment.

He added: “It was tough. I'm married and my wife was filming a lot back in the UK, Europe and South Africa at the time.

“So she couldn't be with me full time and I'm a married man, living in Hollywood, but without my wife.

“After a while you start to think, 'What's most important? Your dreams or your happiness?' "
