Michael Le Vell is set for a quiet 'Coronation Street' comeback.

The 48-year-old actor - who plays Kevin Webster in the ITV soap - was dismissed from the show two years ago after allegations of child-sex offences emerged, but he is to meet with programme bosses today (12.09.13) to discuss his subtle reappearance on the Cobbles.

Producers are to offer Michael a £250,000 year-long contract as well as promising him a major Christmas storyline.

The Mechanic left 'Coronation Street' to visit his sick father Bill in Germany and scriptwriters are hoping they can bring Kevin back by announcing that his dad has died.

The star was found not guilty of five counts of rape, three of indecent assault, two counts of sexual activity with a child, and two of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, at Manchester Crown Court on Tuesday (10.09.13).

Michael is currently planning on writing a book about his two years of hell as he wants to set the record straight about the trial and his battle with booze, and a number of publishers have already offered up six-figure deals.

A close friend told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "He believes he's a victim of the Jimmy Savile affair.

"Without that he thinks the allegations would never reached court. He's not afraid to write about it."
