The 33-year-old dancer is the longest-serving female professional on the prime-time show but took to Twitter to reveal this season will be her last.

She wrote: "Hi tweeps.... So, yes it's true. I will be leaving Strictly at the end of this series. I have had an amazing 10 years on the show, but...

"..things change and I feel it's time for me to move onto other things I love Strictly and have met some amazing people and made some great....friends who I will miss massively I am so grateful to the show for what it has given me...

"I also want to thank all of you for your continuous support throughout the show. You will never know how much it means to me I love you all.

"I wanted to finally say how amazing all the pro dancers are. The show is a massive success is because you are all brilliant at what you do.

"Sometimes in life you have to take a step backwards in order to keep moving forwards. Lots of love Ola xxx (sic)."

Ola's confirmation of her departure comes after she blasted the judges for manipulating their scores to keep certain acts in the competition.

And BBC bosses are said to be so furious about her comments that they insist she will never work for the broadcaster again.

A source told the Sunday Mirror: "Her comments and her conduct have been totally unacceptable. She's going to be spoken to after this weekend and left in no doubt that she has burnt her bridges.

"Some very senior staff at the BBC have become aware of what she has said, which could damage the reputation of one of the most popular shows on TV - which of course is run in a completely fair way. There is no way back."
