The 36-year-old actor has admitted in light of this year's 'Celebrity Big Brother' controversy whereby the former 'Emmerdale' actress falsely accused Ryan Thomas, 34, of punching her and described him as a "woman beater", Ross has praised the former 'Coronation Street' star's "dignity" and revealed his own experience with Roxanne.

In a blog for OK! Online, the 'Hollyoaks' star wrote: "My heart has gone out to Ryan after watching the show, but in light of what he was accused of, I have to say I feel he has handled himself with grace, dignity and gentlemanly loveliness in what must've been extremely difficult and stressful circumstances.

"Like many others, I have my own history with Roxanne that ultimately didn't end nicely, but as I like this blog to encourage positivity I won't dwell on it.

"Instead, I'm wishing Ryan nothing but luck and happiness and I look forward to seeing the exciting things the future holds for him."

Ryan - who went on to win the series - has since admitted he would be prepared to forgive Roxanne following her false allegation.

He said: "Can I be really, really honest I don't know what's been said about Roxanne I only know what I went through when I was in 'Big Brother'.

"I really don't wanna fuel something I feel Roxanne has gone through without me, you know coming out here, and I feel as if I don't know enough about the outside world to start commenting."

Following the 'CBB' controversy, several of Roxanne's former 'Emmerdale' co-stars came out in support of Ryan, and revealed their own experiences with Roxanne.

Danny Miller tweeted: "Roxanne's a known, compulsive liar. Ryan wouldn't harm a fly. Horrible, attention seeking little liar. Goes from being upset & in pain to dancing & drinking - to going bed, crying she can't sleep in the same room as Ryan, to worrying about being nominated? You be the judge #CBB (sic)"

Kelvin Fletcher wrote: "She's not 'mentally ill' or in need of 'help'. That denounces that people with actual mental health issues are as vindictive and menacing as her. They are not. There is a big difference. That was calculated and manipulative beyond belief. Ryan (sic)"
