The 55-year-old TV presenter is determined to grow old and crippled before she'll willingly give up her seat on the panel, which also includes Janet Street-Porter and Judy Finnigan, because she believes they represent "mature" ladies.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the red carpet of the ITV Gala at the London Palladium on Thursday (19.11.15), she said: "I do believe 'Loose Women' is flying the flag for the more mature woman on television and long may it continue.

"You shouldn't be set out to grass when you hit 45. We've got a lot to say as you can see we're very opinionated women. I'm not going anywhere unless they [the producers] throw me out. I will be there in my old age."

Alongside her weekly 'Loose Women' gig, Ruth also presents various other projects - including the occasional 'This Morning' - alongside her husband Eamonn Holmes, 55.

She said of their partnership: "It has its moments. Mostly it's wonderful. We do love working together and it's a great show. I'd say what you see is exactly what we're like."
